Oceanic Whitetip Shark
Habitat: occasionally coastal, deeper offshore (around 500 feet)
Location: warmer waters world-wide
Size: range between 5-7 feet (max: 11-13 feet)
Description: Oceanic whitetip sharks are stocky grey sharks named for the white pattern on their fins. They are slow moving but are active throughout the day and night. Sometimes they can been seen following pilot whales or dolphins.
Diet: bony fish, squid, octopus, stingray, seabirds, turtles, crustaceans, and garbage
Feeding Habits: aggressive and feeds on large schools
Lifespan: between 12-16 years depending on gender
Offspring: 1-15 pups per litter
Status: Near Threatened
