Hammerhead Shark

Habitat: bays, coral reefs, shallow waters
Location: world-wide, warmer tropical and temperate waters

Size: range between13-20 feet
Description: These sharks are named for their unmistakable hammer-shaped heads. Their heads help improve movement and hunting ability. Hammerheads eyes give them better vision of surrounding areas. In addition, these animals can be aggressive if provoked.

Diet: bony fish, smaller sharks, rays, squid, octopus, and invertebrates
Feeding Habits:
Lifespan: 20-30 years
Offspring: 6-42 pups per litter (live-birth)

Status: Near Threatened
Threatened by: human consumption, fining, and bycatch
